Dieppe, NB – It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Zoël Melanson announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, Moncton, at the age of 83.
Born in Saint-Anselme, NB, he was the son of the late Fred and the late Ozina Melanson (nee Caissie).
He worked for Ben’s Bakery, retiring at the age of 55. He lived life loving his family, playing darts and walking every morning for the last 20 years with the Champlain walking club.
Zoël is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bella Melanson (nee Melanson); his daughter, Bernice Pickel (Ralph); his sons, Oscar Melanson (Marie), Yvon Melanson (Cathy), Terry Melanson (Gisèle); his daughter-in-law, Nancy Pellerin; his sisters, Lina Petitpas, Freda Gallant (Néri), Jeanita Cormier (Aurèle); his brother, Roméo Melanson; his grandchildren, Claire (Nathan), Gilles, Tina, Brigitte, Crystal, David, John, Kayla, Jeremie; his great grandchildren, Easton, Jade, Bella, Alexus and Paige; he is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Zoël was predeceased by his son, Ronnie Melanson (May 2013), an infant daughter, Marie; his brothers, Hervé Melanson, Clorice Melanson, Armand Melanson, Normand Melanson; his half siblings, Antoine Mills, Albénie Mills, Délia Collette and Alice Mills
Visitation will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. There will be no visitation on Wednesday morning at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Anselme RC Church, 1014 rue Amirault, Dieppe, on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at 11 am.
In Zoël’s memory donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
